This year’s lecture will be held at Bethel Chapel, Mynachlog-ddu on September 25. The guest lecturer will be the artist from Aberteifi, Meirion Jones, and his subject will be ‘Waldo in images’. There might well be a small exhibition of his work in the Vestry.
“I shall pursue some of the images which influenced Waldo, as well as works of art that reflect his poems. The first image I shall refer to will be Cernunnos – the horned god of the Celtic tradition,” he said.
This is one of the images which Meirion will refer too – ‘The Reapers’ painted by his father, Aneurin Jones – perhaps a reference to some of the lines in the poem ‘Preseli’.
On the following day a Walk from the chapel vestry to Waldo’s stone and back will be organised by Menter Iaith Sir Benfro. Readings of some of Waldo’s poems will be given. Meet at 10am
