TALWRN WALDO

TALWRN WALDO
The contestants who took part in the special Waldo Talwrn at Bwlch-y-groes

A large audience was present at Neuadd Bwlch-y-groes, near Crymych, on March 25 to witness the recording of two Radio Cymru programmes of the Talwrn y Beirdd series presented by eminent poet Ceri Wyn Jones. In the first programme the contestants from Llangrannog beat their opponents Y Ffoaduriaid from Cardiff, and thus they went on to the next round.

The second programme had a much more of a local feel as two teams from Pembrokeshire faced each other to complete the tasks set by the Meuryn. The audience were well entertained by both the serious and humorous compositions. All were pleased that they were adjudicated to be equal on points at the end of the session. Neither would gravitate to the next round. Indeed, they were not expected to do so as it was a special one off Talwrn to celebrate 120 years since the birth of Waldo Williams.

It would be well-nigh on impossible to translate the compositions but they are to be seen on the Welsh thread of this website.
